Larry Seabert, President of Tech-Ni-Kolor
Autocrafters, began doing bodywork in high
school. He was in the first class of the Dwight
High School Job Program. He originally signed
up for a mechanics position but since they only
had three openings, he took the one in
bodywork.
He began at Boyer Buick in Dwight and made a
good friend who taught him a lot about
bodywork and painting. He was allowed to
work nights and weekends and had the
freedom to experiment on his own projects and
painting.
When he opened his own shop, he had
developed a passion for motorcycles, doing
custom paint on cars and motorcycles. The
economy and lifestyle changes sent him back
to a dealership.

After a few more years, his wife, Shirley and his Dad, Ford, encouraged him to build a new shop and do it "his way". So,
Tech-Ni-Kolor Autocrafters was born on Watters Drive in Dwight, Illinois. His Dad never got to see it completed as he passed
away eight months before the new shop opened on January 1, 1998 with a Grand Opening and Car Show.
The auto industry has been through many changes and we have endured many growing pains. We are still basically a collision
repair shop with about 70 percent of our business in insurance repairs.
Custom painting is still Larry's passion and restoring automobiles and motorcycles is his first love. We are expanding into that
end of the business. We have become a jobber for Motor State Distributing giving us a huge assortment of automotive parts to
offer to the public.
We would encourage you to visit our facility and see for yourself some of our custom work. We have built a 1939 Studebaker
truck on an S-10 pickup frame. We are currently working on a 1987 Chevy S-10 Sedan Delivery.
Our staff includes Dave Hanson, Manager, and Kerry Tredennick, Technician. Dave, a.k.a. Mr. Natural, started working in a
dealership upon graduation from high school. He has built his own high performance cars in the past. He has built some great
experience with us and loves doing different things and building cars that are his dreams. Kerry also started work in a body
shop right out of high school. He has been with us about one and a half years and feels he has learned a lot from Larry and
Dave.
